Core Values

Six Core Values

We believe in the importance of work ethic because it is a reflection of God’s creation. Work is considered good and therefore, we value the act of working diligently (Genesis 1:27; 2:5). We understand that life can be challenging and requires hard work to thrive. The psalmist says to the one who works hard, “You will surely eat what your hands have worked for. You will be happy and it will go well for you” (Psalm 128:2). At Litchfield Christian School, our students will learn the biblical value of work and participate in opportunities to practice a strong work ethic in academics and athletics.

The Bible teaches the importance of both personal and collective responsibility. Personal responsibility involves taking ownership of one’s duties and carrying them out with integrity (Proverbs 28:13, Galatians 6:5). Collective responsibility involves protecting and caring for those in your church, community and home (Luke 10:30-37, 1 Timothy 5:8, Galatians 6:2). At Litchfield Christian School, our students will embrace the biblical value of responsibility, promoting integrity and unity with God and their neighbors.

Accountability is a fundamental value that ensures transparency, responsibility and trust within the church, community and home. In the biblical context, accountability means taking ownership of one’s actions, as nothing is hidden from God and we are all accountable to Him. Therefore, we must be mindful of our actions and be prepared to give an account of them (Hebrews 4:13). At Litchfield Christian School, students embrace biblical accountability by upholding integrity and receiving and exercising it with peers.

Courage is a virtue that gives strength to the heart to carry out one’s responsibilities even in the face of extreme danger and frightening circumstances. It is important to note that courage does not mean the absence of fear, but rather the ability to overcome fear and hopelessness in order to fulfill one’s duty. Biblical courage teaches us that God never abandons His people (Deuteronomy 31:23, Joshua 1:9), that He strengthens them and helps them (Isaiah 41:10) and that He offers His goodness to those who set their hearts to follow His ways (Psalm 27:13-14). At Litchfield Christian School, our students will develop strong convictions to honor God and carry out their responsibilities with courage.

God shows compassion to all, sending rain and sun equally (Matthew 5:45-46). Jesus sought the poor and the vulnerable with love and care (Luke 4:18-19). James commends honorable religion is to look after the orphan and the widow (James 1:27). Compassion must be practiced towards others, as Christ offers to us. At Litchfield Christian School, our students practice kindness, protect the weak and demonstrate empathy toward the vulnerable.

Our goal is to honor God in all we do, big or small (1 Corinthians 10:31, Colossians 3:23). Achieving greatness requires going through the pains of growth. It is through growth that we learn valuable lessons from our mistakes as we strive for high standards. Effort is highly valued as it serves as a catalyst for students to achieve excellence in their church, community and home. At Litchfield Christian School, our students strive for excellence in the church, community and home glorifying God and loving their neighbor.

Litchfield Christian School has been such a beautiful blessing to our family. LCS is a Christ-centered school that challenges students academically, nurtures their creativity, promotes a positive learning environment, and contributes to their spiritual growth. LCS is very supportive, and they encourage their students and their families. Our daughter came into LCS completely broken and empty. Public school had taken a drastic toll on her mental health. She had pleaded with us for over a year to homeschool her. We were at a loss. Our daughter is a very social person, and we knew she needed more. We decided to check out LCS as an alternative. From the very moment we stepped inside LCS, we could see and feel the genuine love. EVERYONE felt as if they belonged. Before our day of observing was over, she had asked if she could please come to LCS. She was smiling and said this place is my kind of place. It's definitely been just that!

Today she is thriving, and she is truly enjoying herself. She loves to go to school, and she loves all of the teachers. She has made good friends and is blossoming in all areas of life. She's even started singing on stage during chapel. This has been the best decision we could have ever made as parents for our daughter. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity in our hometown, and we truly appreciate that LCS offers grades K-12. How blessed we are to be a part of Litchfield Christian School. We look forward to many more amazing years here.
