Athletics at Litchfield Christian School

Athletics at Litchfield Christian School are an extension of our classical, Christ-centered educational mission. We believe athletic competition is a powerful means of forming virtue, discipline, teamwork, courage, and perseverance in students as they mature into healthy, responsible adults.

Our athletic programs exist not merely to produce wins, but to shape young men and women of Christian character who learn to honor authority, serve others, and glorify God with their bodies (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Athletics at LCS support the school’s broader purpose of strengthening families and empowering students to learn, lead, and serve in the church, community, and home

LCS Educational Convictions

Athletic Mission Statement

The mission of Litchfield Christian School Athletics is to build confident and capable athletes of good Christian character who love to compete, pursue excellence, and honor Christ—on and off the field.

This mission reflects our conviction that students must grow in:

  • Faith in God
  • Wisdom and virtue
  • Discipline and responsibility
  • Courage, compassion, and excellence

Athletic Vision Statement

Our vision is to see every member of the Lancer family enjoy the God-given gift of athletics while being shaped into Christ-honoring leaders who compete with integrity, humility, and perseverance.

Our Philosophy of Athletics

LCS Athletics are intentionally:

Christ Centered

Athletics are an act of worship. Practice, preparation, competition, and conduct are all done as unto the Lord.

Character Forming

Sports provide a daily arena where students practice:

  • Work ethic
  • Responsibility
  • Accountability
  • Courage
  • Compassion
  • Excellence

Disciplined & Ordered

Submission to coaches, officials, and team structures trains students to respect authority and live within God-ordained order.

Community Building

Athletics strengthen school unity, family partnership, and our Christian witness in the wider Litchfield community.

A Place To Belong

Structure, kindness, and high expectations help our students feel safe, and that security opens the door to real joy and lasting growth.

Athletic Programs

Current Athletic Offering

Planned Programs (2026 – Based on Enrollment & Resources)

Athletic Eligibility & Expectations

Participation in athletics at LCS is a privilege, not a right. Student-athletes are expected to:

  • Maintain academic eligibility
  • Attend practices and competitions faithfully
  • Uphold the LCS Code of Conduct
  • Respect coaches, officials, teammates, and opponents
  • Represent LCS with integrity in school, community, and home

Failure to meet these expectations may result in suspension or removal from athletic participation.

Athletic Fees

Each athletic season requires a participation fee to help offset program costs, including:

  • League and officiating fees
  • Equipment and uniforms
  • Facility usage
  • Transportation (when applicable)

Athletic fees are published annually and communicated prior to each season. Financial accounts must remain current for participation eligibility.

Required Athletic Forms

All student-athletes must submit the following before participation:

  • Sports Physical (within the last 12 months)
  • Athletic Participation & Liability Waiver
  • Emergency Medical Authorization
  • Concussion Awareness Form
  • Athlete & Parent Code of Conduct Agreement

Schedules & Communication

  • Practice schedules are set by coaches and shared prior to the season.
  • Game schedules will be posted once finalized.
  • Changes due to weather or facility availability will be communicated promptly.
  • Season schedules will be posted when available.

Coaching & Leadership

LCS coaches serve as mentors, teachers, and examples, not merely instructors of sport. Coaches are expected to:
  • Model Christian maturity
  • Teach discipline and teamwork
  • Communicate clearly with families
  • Reinforce the mission and values of LCS

Parent Partnership

Parents are vital partners in LCS Athletics. Families are asked to:

  • Support coaches and officials respectfully
  • Model Christ-honoring conduct in the stands
  • Encourage effort, growth, and humility
  • Reinforce team expectations at home

A Final Word

At Litchfield Christian School, athletics are formational, not extracurricular.

We train students who:

  • Compete fiercely
  • Speak kindly
  • Submit humbly
  • Win thankfully
  • Lose gracefully

Litchfield Christian School has been such a beautiful blessing to our family. LCS is a Christ-centered school that challenges students academically, nurtures their creativity, promotes a positive learning environment, and contributes to their spiritual growth. LCS is very supportive, and they encourage their students and their families. Our daughter came into LCS completely broken and empty. Public school had taken a drastic toll on her mental health. She had pleaded with us for over a year to homeschool her. We were at a loss. Our daughter is a very social person, and we knew she needed more. We decided to check out LCS as an alternative. From the very moment we stepped inside LCS, we could see and feel the genuine love. EVERYONE felt as if they belonged. Before our day of observing was over, she had asked if she could please come to LCS. She was smiling and said this place is my kind of place. It's definitely been just that!

Today she is thriving, and she is truly enjoying herself. She loves to go to school, and she loves all of the teachers. She has made good friends and is blossoming in all areas of life. She's even started singing on stage during chapel. This has been the best decision we could have ever made as parents for our daughter. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity in our hometown, and we truly appreciate that LCS offers grades K-12. How blessed we are to be a part of Litchfield Christian School. We look forward to many more amazing years here.
